Mauritius Itself
Mauritius is an island off the coast of Africa, east of Madagascar, situated in the Indian Ocean. This beautiful part of the world holds many surprises for those who wish to stay there. Not only can you take a tour of the Moka mountains, incorporating a tour of a local rum distillery, you can also watch dolphins in their natural habitat off the western coast of Tamarin.
As this is an island nation, waters ports and beach activities are high on the tourists agenda. Divers tend to flock to the west coast, around Flic-Flac, and swimmers congregate around Trou aux Birches in the north. For Parasailing, underwater walks, or even a semi-submarine scooter experience then you should visit the Grand Baie, a large tourist beach area in the district of Pamplemousses.
For a spectacular view of Port Louis, head for Le Pouce. It is quite a climb to the top, taking about 2 hours, but it is well worth it. From the top you can grab yourself some beautiful 360 degree, panoramic views of Port Louis and northern Mauritius. Just remember to take your camera!
